# Find Location from Image > An independent photo location finder. It reads GPS metadata stored in the photo first and, when there is none, uses a vision AI model (GPT-6 Luna via OpenRouter) to estimate where the image was taken. Content updated: 2026-10-20. Created and maintained by junwei000. Accepts one JPG, PNG, or WebP image up to 10 MB. GPS metadata is not required; this tool does not extract EXIF GPS tags. Coordinates are predictions, not verified facts. Prepared examples are demonstrations, not live analyses or accuracy measurements. The application does not persist uploaded photos or results. Photos without GPS metadata are sent to OpenRouter and the AI model vendor, whose own data policies apply. Some confident AI results offer a one-off paid unlock through Stripe. ## Product and guidance - [Photo location finder](https://findlocationfromimage.com/): Uploader, three-step process, AI versus GPS comparison, examples and FAQ. - [Extended plain-text guide](https://findlocationfromimage.com/llms-full.txt): Answers, limitations, sources and creator identity. ## About, contact and policies - [About](https://findlocationfromimage.com/about): Creator identity and methodology. - [Contact](https://findlocationfromimage.com/contact): Official GitHub and X contact profiles. - [Privacy Policy](https://findlocationfromimage.com/privacy-policy): Image processing, provider handling, maps and technical request data. - [Terms of Service](https://findlocationfromimage.com/terms-of-service): Image permissions, permitted use and prediction limits. ## Sources - [GPT-6 Luna on OpenRouter](https://openrouter.ai/openai/gpt-6-luna): Vision model used for photos without GPS metadata. - [Exiv2 metadata reference](https://exiv2.org/tags.html): GPS latitude and longitude tags in EXIF. ## Creator profiles - [GitHub: junwei000](https://github.com/junwei000) - [X: @aiwei00](https://x.com/aiwei00)
